Guantanamo Bay inmates tortured

UN report on Guantanamo prison camp has leaked and it’s calling for the U.S to close the prison.

“Treatment of detainees at Guantanamo Bay constitutes torture in some cases and violates international law, a leaked UN draft report says. The US government should close Guantanamo Bay detention facilities without further delay

Germany has openly questioned the U.S on Guantanamo.. the response was not surprising.

US President George W Bush has rejected criticism over the Guantanamo Bay camp raised by German Chancellor Angela Merkel during talks in Washington.”

Weekend at SunPeaks

Sumeet and I spent the weekend at the SunPeaks ski resort in Kamloops, BC. It was sunny skies for our whole stay. The snow was good even though it hadn’t snowed for about a week. It’s a very nice resort with some good lodging. We stayed at the Delta hotel which is about a 1 minute walk from the ski-lift. I think it’s more of a skiers mountain then a snow-boarders, the terrain isn’t as boarder-friendly as other mountains ie: Big White, Blackcomb etc. It was a well-needed mini getaway and it was our 1st time boarding this season.

Buddy Guy

I’ve been listening to a lot of Buddy Guy lately, an exceptional blues/blues-rock singer and guitarist who was just inducted into the rock n’ roll hall of fame. I heard the beginning of ‘Baby Please Don’t Leave Me’ during the beginning of “Hustle & Flow” and even though I heard only about 30-45 seconds of the song I knew it was great stuff. So, I picked up the album that the song is featured on which is Sweet Tea. I like BB King a lot and Buddy has a good mix of Blues and Rock on this album and he reminds me of a cross between BB King and Jimi Hendrix. You can preview the album at Amazon.ca. If you don’t have Real Player installed, you can preview it with Windows Media Player at Amazon.com.

Steelers take the superbowl

Hats off to the Steelers for winning their record 5th superbowl. I thought it was a good game with some poor officiating and some bad-luck for the Seahawks. A lot of people are saying the Seahawks played a better foot-ball game and it could have been a much different final score….could have been . Anyhow, Seahawks fans can take some solace in the fact many Steelers fans are pretty upset on how the Steelers actually won.

Like a crazed CIA analyst running through the halls of Langley screaming into open offices about some impending calamity, I’ve been shrieking hysterically about the terrible officiating in the NFL and warning that some day the brutal calls were going to affect the outcome of the Super Bowl.

That some day was Sunday.

Every single questionable, marginal or outright bad call went against the Seahawks.
